Petulant

Me. Not the baby below. At least that's what Ann said. It was a frustrating afternoon, spinning-wise and surprise surprise: I don't like NOT being good at things. Ann will tell you there was stomping. I say pouting, but whatever. I'm not in such a great mood. But the company was FANTASTIC. Jen was kind of enough to let Xavier model with the birthday package.

Super cute picture, right? But I forgot the newspaper. So we took another one. I dare say X is laughing at me!

Jaywalker updates will be late tomorrow. Get them in now if you can. Thanks.

you are a most adorable pouter! and you are a natural born spinner - I am sure that this time tomorrow, you will be turning hay into gold.

Both are fabulous pictures!

Baby. Is. Super. Cute.

Good luck with the spinning. I liked how you jumped in and went for it. That means you'll get better at it really soon.

Spinning takes practice and time. Be easy on yourself and you'll get the hang of it in no time. Wicked cute pictures of Xavier!

Goigeous baby-with-box photos! Hope your b-day will be fabulous :)

Rosemary, who has a recent-ish jaywalker pic on the ole blog.

I so totally relate to the "don't like NOT being good at things." Yep. Practice SUCKS. I mean, what's so wrong with instantly being an expert at everything you do?? :o) Very frustrating. Keep at it, by tomorrow you'll be fab.

Okay, can I have my babies back so you can take pictures of them? X is just killing me, and on the box! xoxo Kay

No doubt. None. Absolutely NO doubt at all that you will soon (SOON, I tell you) be spinning yarns destined for tall tales or big mittens or sweaters, socks, shawls -- or something. I'm sure of it. You'll find your groove and there'll be no stopping you.

Go you.

A cute baby really does spruce up a photo of newspaper + cardboard box.

I finally started (and finished) one sock! And started another (sure, maybe it's not the match to the first one.... but it's still a Jaywalker. Heh. )

Good luck with the spinning!

Hey Cara add me to the Jaywalker thingy. I'm partway into sock two.

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Because I'll likely forget to check in on the real day. ;-)

Spinning, cute babies, upcoming birthdays... can't ask for more! No Jaywalker update from me this time, but a mostly-finished singleton is waiting my return to regular knitting after the New Year.

Did I tell you how I wanted to throw my wheel out the window for the first 2-3 days? It would have looked very good out on the back lawn. Did I tell you how Cassie had to talk me down? After I screamed at her in all caps for ten minutes about how this spinning thing SUCKED?

It passes. It gets sooooooo good.

Very cute kid, that one! I followed your link to his mama's and saw the other pictures you took of him - amazing. No wonder business is booming!

As for the petulance, I totally understand. I am still a pretty crappy handspinner and it annoys the hell out of me. I won't do it with another spinner (well, except Marnie) watching, because I'm so self-conscious. The thing is, to get good, we have to go through the less than good stage. I've been spinning away this holiday and I think I *may* have improved a little. Not much, but something!

Heart strings have been tugged!
I've just started my first (of many) pairs of Jaywalkers. I'm doing them toe up and loving the pattern so far. So, can I join the Jaywalker-party?

You and X sure make that ugly ol' box look good. EVERYONE sucks at first from what I've been told. Sit down and practice a bit each day and it will click. You'll be fabulous. Just give yourself a break.

that baby is soooo cute, man I wish you could take some of my new little one. but none the less, happy birthday and here is to you and your wonderful day...make it a great one.

What a PUMPKIN Xavier is! And a good sport, to boot ....

Posted by: Ruth at December 30, 2005 09:35 AM

I completely understand. I decided I wanted a sewing machine for Christmas and have been trying to just use it in blocks of time because I don't want to get so frustrated that I put it back in the box. :-)

Cute picture! I hate to sound stupid, but can someone please tell me how we actually do updates for the Jaywalkers KAL? Do we just post something here in the comments? I tried that 2 weeks ago, but my name wasn't listed in the updates. ??? Thanks!

Posted by: Kristie at December 30, 2005 10:24 AM

Oh what a doll baby!!!

Posted by: Chelle at December 30, 2005 10:47 AM

I am going to try to make some proper jaywalker's soon, instead of the weird ones I made. You are like a cracksock dealer.

That baby is too cute to be real!

That baby is too cute! My Jaywalker update: I turned the heel of sock #2 and I'm going to have those babies off the needles by your birthday! WHOO!

Posted by: Renata at December 30, 2005 02:34 PM

Oh, C! You are a whiz with that camera, I tell you - the light in the room was SO dark and look at how beautiful those pictures came out. And that is his first real smile caught on camera. mwah!

Thanks for having us over, it was really fun to see you pout. ;) And I still maintain that by your third full day of spinning you will be nothing short of an EXPERT.

Oh yeah - happy birthday sweetie. kisses and hugs...
