GAME ON!
Look!

The knitting goddesses are smiling on us! So. I'll be the one sweating my ass off in a formal black wool shawl with beads. And dirty jeans. With the mess in the kitchen I didn't get to do laundry. DON'T FORGET:

In what's become (or at least I like to think so) something of a tradition, I'm announcing this year's blogger/knitter meet-up at Maryland Sheep and Wool!
By the Stage, close to the Main Exhibition Hall.
See Fairgrounds Map.
I tried to get everyone into the sidebar. If I missed you, please forgive me! It's been a bit crazy around here these days and I tried to go through all the comments and emails.
Thanks for all the good wishes about our little mishap. I will be contacting the insurance company next week. The stove's about 9 years old, so I don't know what kind of warranty it's still under. And yes, I know that we probably don't need a new one, but my god. I looked at this inside of the oven pretty close yesterday and that shit ain't coming off. So we'll see. AND THANK YOU for all the offers of socks! You guys are SO FREAKING SWEET! I really don't need any socks. I, um, kind of have that covered. And generally I go into these exchanges really not expecting anything back. I've said this before - it's like lending money. G always tells me you should never lend money if you need it back. I have had a great time knitting socks for my pals and that's all that really matters. For the record, I still haven't heard from my pal. It seems a lot of us haven't. Oh well. What comes will come.
Wherever you are, whoever you are with HAVE A FANTASTIC WEEKEND!!!!!
(Maybe a contest with Maryland goodies when I get back....)

How about a contest for all the people who didn't get to go to Maryland? Like me, for instance.

Oh, how I wish I could join the fun in Maryland. Maybe next year! Have a wonderful time! :)

I hope you have the most wonderful time. I'm SO jealous.

Please take lots of pictures! I SO wanted to go this year, but alas, cannot.
Have a great time, and get some great stuff!
And do wear the shawl! I love it so much, that I've started one myself - with beads knitted in, inspired by YOU!

Not get a new stove? What? I'm with you - it's worth the money just to not have to try to clean the crap off the inside of that one. Plus the bad karma now - it'd probably burn cookies or something equally tragic. Have a great time in Maryland. I'm glad the weather is looking good (p.s. - it's snowing here).

Oh! I knew it!! I was blowing all my unexpected and uncommonly good weather your way. ; )
Have fun!!

I second Carole!!
So wish I could be there! Maybe next year, and this year, I'm shooting for Rhinebeck with a blogging friend (not going to out her until I know she wants to be outed)!

Have fun, Cara! And by the way, I tried to post a comment about the spin-in thing, which I can't go to because of the annual Hostage Exchange for the summer (sob...) happening on the exact same day, but I wanted to tell you I'd be with you all there in spirit. But the commenting thing was closed...
Have a blast, baby...wish I could go!

WOOT! see you tomorrow!

I'll be sweating right along with you in the sweater I finished yesterday. I have repeatedly stated that I will wear that sweater at Maryland Sheep & Wool come hell or high water!
P.S. I'll bring the deodorant and the hand towels so we can wipe the sweat off.

Have a great time in Maryland! I can't go. (The chances of my ever making it to Maryland are slim and none.) At least the weather here is supposed to be nice too.
I really hope you get socks. I agree, though, I was much more concerned that my sock pal like her socks (she does!) than that I like mine (I do!)

See you tomorrow! I'll be there in black capri sweat type pants w/dk. pink stripes and a black ball cap that says "Arbonne" on the front(it's my incognito movie star look). :-)

Have fun all you crazy mid-Atlantic folk! Me? I'll be staying home. Hey, someone has to staff New England this weekend :-).

I came late to the stove fire story and hope I'm not stirring up bad memories.
I would agree that changing the element might solve the problem, but as someone who would rather buy a new stove than clean even an oven dirty from normal use, I say go with a new stove. The suggestion that you check with your household insurance agent is a good one, too.
Have a really great time in Maryland, and I hope your sock exchange pal restores your trust soon.

hope you had a wonderful time!

Doh, I just read your stove story, how much does that suck? A whole lot, that's how much. I know it could have been worse, but jeez. It's easy enough to look back at it now and wonder how you didn't think of killing the breaker, but in the heat (ha!) of the moment, clarity doesn't always reign.
Hope you had fun in Maryland and I hope that you get socks soon!
