Photobooth

Nephew #3 and Me
I was in Philly this weekend for nephew #1's super fantastic bowling birthday party. I was in charge of two lanes - the two lanes with the babies, i.e. the kids under 6. Fun times, but I ran those lanes like a dictator. More than one parent thanked me.
The best part of the party (besides my two spares) was the photobooth. If I ever win the lottery I'm totally getting one of these for my gigantic custom-built mansion (that incidentally is a sprawling ranch - isn't it funny how dreams change? I always thought I was a Colonial kind of girl, but not so much anymore.) I think it would be great fun to just step in at random times of the day and see what pops out. It could almost be like a mood ring of sorts. What's my mood right now? But honestly it's probably a good idea that I haven't won the lottery. I'd get even less done than I do now. I have to stop procrastinating.
I didn't knit much this weekend, and when I did it was on CPH. I think I'm getting pretty close to splitting things up. I guess I forgot how fast knits go on size 9 needles. I still love the yarn and the pattern's still good - except my handy dandy row counter tip somehow got pulled out of the row it was tracking and I turned the next cable too early. So I have to rip. It's only like six rows - not a big deal.
What else is going on? It's finally cold where I am - and I'm enjoying it. Especially since superhusband sealed the windows this weekend while I was away and it's now very warm in my house. Even though I never officially joined Runagogo - I'm still running. If I want to I can move up to Week 4 of my program today. I haven't decided yet. I'm not seeing too many results yet - but I feel better. And I love being outside. I LOVE running in the cold. I love getting all bundled up and hitting the pavement and feeling just a little bit chilly and then ten minutes in I'm positively WARM inside and 15-20 minutes in I'm ripping off the gloves and pushing the hat back for a little air-conditioning. LOVE IT! So much better than running in the Summer when you're hot before you even leave the house. The only problem I have is that sometimes my glasses get all fogged up and I can't see. This week I think I'm going to incorporate some weight training. Fun times! (But I'd really like to start seeing some payoff in the near future....)
Thanks for all your comments on the Legacies post - look for a continuation hopefully some time this week. Hey Vicki! Guess what I picked up when I was home?! BUTTONS!
Have a good Monday!

Cute pics, sweet little guy. Your sister's a looker. You working your own running program, or using a published one? I'm trying to get up the gumption to get up at 5 freakin' 45 in the morning so I can squeeze in some runs.

Look how cute you all are! Photo booths are popping up all over the place again. I saw one in the mall this weekend.

Not sure who is cuter...you or the nephew! Both of you are adorable! I'm with you on the running outside in the cold! It can be hard to get started, but the feeling of exhilaration when you're done is unbeatable! Stick with it, you WILL see results!

I.must.find.photo.booth. How cute!!!
I can't wait to see your buttons -- I just know you'll share 'em somehow. Please, please, please.
OMG -- it's so funny that you mention a) the lottery (I didn't win), b) the gigantic mansion, c) that's really a sprawling ranch. I have had sprawling-ranch-on-the-brain for the past several weeks. It's SCARY! I LOVE my house, I can't imagine living anywhere else, and yet... I keep wanting to scope out those those good, old neighborhoods and find the perfect one. THEN WHAT???

B&W photo booths are the BEST! And I'm totally with you on having a Ranch house. Stupid stairs...

Love the photobooth pictures. I'm glad you had a great time. I love the idea of running when it's cold, but it get's dark too early when it's cold (and cold around here has been below zero, which is just too cold).

Adorable photos. I am in awe of how photogenic you are in a dinky photo booth. My photo strips are always unspeakable.
Next time you're in Philly, stop by Rosie's and say hi.

Adorable. I love photo booths. And somehow they always flatter the subjects.

Photo Booths rock. And I heart that they come standard on Macs, now. Apple rocks, too.

I heart photobooths something FIERCE... no better way to spend the beer money :)

Do you know, that the new Macbooks come with an application that is called phptbooth and is really similiar to a traditional fotobooth? I had some fun with daughter using it and the yarnharlot hat a recent entry about the application and her family using it.
Have a nice day :)

Love the photos! What a great idea, a photo booth at home! You remind me of the movie Amile. Lots of photo booth fun in that one.

Great pics! I made the CPH for my son's girlfriend, and want to make one for MOI! I would love to knit this in the round.....I have seen you mentioned about taking out a stitch at the sides? Any other helpful hints would be great......

Love the photo booth!! Me and my girls did some on a trip last summer. Very fun.
This is off the subject but I broke my STR cherry and bought some yesterday. It was a present to myself for my 30th birthday. Now which sock pattern to knit?!?!?!?!

Hey Cara, Congrats on the running routine. I think it definitely improves the mood. You might also check out the Jeff Galloway training method. It's run/walk but he emphasizes that beginners and advanced runners alike take walk breaks. I take a short walk break every mile and it really breaks it up. You can google him. He has free training programs on his site. I've done the beginner, 5K and half-marathon training programs and I can honestly say that they build mileage painlessly. No joke. Anyway, I'm glad you like the cold weather running. I'm hanging in there but boy, I prefer running in the HEAT!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

Cara, if you haven't already, you don't have to rip out the whole row to fix the cable that turned early. Just ladder down the affected stitches and re-knit them while everything else stays put. The loose yarn that gets pulled out as you ladder down is enough yarn to redo the work. It's a little fumbly at first, but it's so much easier. I sware by it. Yep, even cables can be done this way!
I love the photobooth pix! Very cute nephew.

Was that party at the Hi Spot Lanes in Manayunk? I was there to scoop up Bruno from a birthday party on Saturday and I would feel bad to know I didn't look far enough past the bowls of cheese puffs on the tables to say hey to you. Feel better soon!
