Larger Than Life
Yesterday was all about crochet.
I'm still not sure about it. I haven't fallen in love or anything like that. Maybe it's the yarn. (Although I still love the colors.) Or maybe it's just crochet. Or maybe it's the fact that I haven't been doing it for so long, but I don't think so. Because when I started knitting it was all I could do to stop. I wanted to knit forever. I don't feel that way with crochet. Like last night. I wasn't ready to stop, but I wasn't ready to do a whole square. So I did some middles.
So far I've done a middle in every color I have - nine colors. Well, all except for the chocolate brown which is going to be the border and bottom and gusset of the bag. When I was done with the middles (which is actually the first two rounds of the square) I checked which colors I hadn't used for the next color change (the next three rounds) and I matched up middles to colors.
I'm going to
knit CROCHET (duh! Thanks Tonya!) the next three rounds and then figure out the outside colors. That gives me nine squares. Three left to play with however I please. I see a lot of the blue in my future. I may also decide to throw out some squares and choose some others. I'm happy to be making this bag and I'm happy to be learning a new skill, but really, I'm a knitter. There's no two ways about it.
Can I ask you guys a favor? I've got some stuff going on today - not bad stuff - potentially very good stuff - but it's making me a bit crazy and I'm not ready to talk about it but I could use some good vibes. Everyone knows that knitter/spinner/crocheter/fiber juju is the best. So maybe you can sling some in my direction? THANK YOU!
And, as always, thank you for reading my blog. Your presence is greatly appreciated.

You want good vibes? Dude, they are SO on the way. Thank goodness crochet is not your thing (though you are very good at it), cause it is a path I am not sure I can follow. Also- I can't resist asking...who is going to sew the lining? Could Cara be trying her hand at sewing?
Good luck to day, Sweets! You'll do great!

I just danced around my office shaking my hands in the air. My little routine for shaking off the bad voodoo and bringing on the good. All the best.

You know how we know you ARE a knitter? You said: "I'm going to knit the next three rounds and then figure out the outside colors" when, of course you meant crochet the next 3...
LOL - consider knitter/spinner/crocheter/fiber juju slung in your direction. Good luck!

juju, Mojo, banked karma, vibes, waving them your way.
I noticed 2 ends hanging out on your crocheted middles. Do you know that you can work in the ends as you go and NEVER have to worry about weaving in?!! There's a tutorial over at Crochet Cabana called "Those Pesky Ends". Its a sanity saving practice - especially with GS's :)

Sometimes I wonder if I would be crazy about crochet if I had learned it before I learned to knit. SO, maybe the first fiber art you learn will be your great love and all others will pale in comparison.

Good vibes are sent and will continue to be sent your way all day, in order to make sure that the stuff going on will actually turn out to be very good, and for you not to be overwhelmed with the bit of craziness it induces.
Have a wonderful day!

Consider yourself buried in slung juju!
The squares are quite lovely but I am so glad to hear that you aren't permanently going over to the darkside.
If you find the time, I'd love for you to stop by my blog. I think you'd get a laugh from my recent yarn dying/run in with the police episode.

Good vibes, comin' atcha! (Just a side note, I don't find the physical action of crochet nearly as pleasing as that of knitting. Something about the repeated pulling, the various and strange angles of my wrists, and the fact that I have look at every single stitch. But your squares are looking good, and I have to say, I'm proud of you for going acrylic. Not to go all process/progress on you (or teenager), but if it feels good, do it!)

I'm all for being a jack (or jill) of all trades. Variety is the spice of life, they say. Besides, I think it's good to know how to do as many of the handcrafts as possible. You just never know when you'll need a differnt one! But the KNIT reigns supreme. We all know that. The KNIT is not jealous of a little crochet. Nah. Go ahead and play. You'll return to the KNIT soon. Now, as for the vibes, good wishes, positive thoughts, prayers, fiber juju. You have it all coming your way from Dallas, Cara. I'm sending in on in big bunches!

Good vibes headed your way. I've been crocheting lately as well--needed some quickie washrags and a sun-top for my daughter. I crocheted before I learned to knit and find it far faster. But now that I'm knitting as well I still feel the call of the needles over the hook most days.

the crochet looks good -- love those colors together! For a long time there my favorite thing to do was crochet granny squares. They can get addictive -- for me, moreso than miters since I hate purling! :)

As for the crochet, if you ever need a really quick cheap gift that everyone will LOVE if you basically do those square middles in nylon yarn, they make the best pot/dish scrubbers and are safe for every thing. (I use needloft. can be found at walmart or michaels)
