Labor Day

should be on or about March 23, 2008.
We're ecstatic, our families are ecstatic and baby is doing great. I, on the other hand, have puked more in the last two months than I have in 37 years. WHOO HOO!
Have a great Labor Day or Monday, wherever you are!
Thank you!
Love,
C, G & B

Congratulations! I hope the nausea vomitting stop SOON SOON SOON. My little guy is due in early Nov.
There is one thing I am certain of.
When you are worshiping a toilet in the name of motherhood, no one is or ever has been as sick as you are right them. Make sure you are treated as such and ignore anyone who claims they had it worse. They are wrong.
Good Luck and YEAH!!!!

Whole Foods down here carries some Altoid-like pastilles made from ginger - they REALLY help. I also used to carry thin slices of lemon with me in a little plastic bag (it was a pain to change it every day, but boy did I love it during one of my all-too-frequent nausea attacks). Carry some saltines with you as well.
I had the stupidly named "morning sickness" for my entire pregnancy. I remember sitting in my car in our driveway and I had smelled the gas from the lawnmower and I to use my cell phone to call my husband inside the house to get him to bring me a ginger ale NOW! Five years later, it's finally a funny story!
Enjoy it, you're going to have fun!

Congratulations!
All I could do during my first trimesters was to lay around and watch Food Network, which was interesting since there was so little joy to be had from eating. The worst is almost over. Yes, I said the worst. Being huge and labor notwithstanding (And mine was quite difficult.), that sick, lethargic, tired feeling is the worst part to me.
Oh, and to think of all of the pretty little things you will be able to knit! In a few weeks, I bet you will be cranking them out!

I knew it. Know how? Cuz, I'm right there in the same boat with you, sistah. (I'm due in mid-February.)
The excessive puking thing may have to do with our age. (I'm 37 too.) This is my 4th one, and I have NEVER had morning sickness like this. Couldn't even keep water down sometimes. And forget knitting, it made it worse.
I went to my OB/GYN and got a prescription for Zofran. Highly recommend it if you haven't already tried it. It is expensive if you don't have great insurance, but to be able to eat 95% of the time and keep it down, is freakin' fantastic! Plus, it allowed me to start knitting again.
I am so happy for you and G!!!! Now the girls at Blue Moon need to make a Baby JanOne color when the time comes. :)
Posted by: Mel at September 3, 2007 10:17 AM
Phiou. We can stop holding our collective breath now...Hooray for you! Did the doc tell you that the puking's good and means you've got the right amount of hormones? When my doc told me that, I nearly smacked him upside the head.
I'm wicked happy for you, dude.

Ginger snaps might help a bit, and have you heard about the preggie pops? I didn't really have the puking so much, but I've heard these work for some people. Hope you feel better soon and can enjoy the experience more. It's amazing what our bodies can do!

if it gets too bad ( i puke all 9 mons) www.reliefband.com takes the edge off so you can function. and hopefully the thought doesn't make you sick, but beefjerky at the nightstand rather than crackers. no one told me this til baby#5. it helped so much more! something about the lack of protein.

Hey, congratulations! I keep reading your posts, thinking, "She must be pregnant. What else could it possibly be?" ha ha ha You'll feel pretty good soon, but I don't envy your having the first trimester ick during the heat of the summer. ;) We're having our third baby in January, and those first few months of pregnancy are still fresh in my mind.

Oh, Cara.... I am so happy for you! A baby gives you so many reasons to celebrate: birth, birthdays, and looking into the future you see graduations and weddings and still more births! Suddenly the future seems very real and very meaningful, doesn't it?
And I bet you never knew how much you would "enjoy" nausea, when it is evidence of a much wanted and waited for little one!

Congratulations! "Morning" sickness is a cruel joke, huh? I never threw up but felt completely nauseous ALL day... of course, that pregnancy ended very sadly without a living baby-- I've heard, though, that having bad morning sickness points to having the pregnancy go well. Anyway, many congratulations! I hope I can join you in the pregnancy club again very soon :)

Congratulations!!! I hope the "morning sickness" abates soon. (What a stupid name for it. Wouldn't it be great if it was ONLY in the morning?)
I'm a bit less than 3 weeks ahead of you, 12 weeks today, so I *should* have suspected you were pregnant. But early pregnancy apparently has lowered my IQ dramatically.
At any rate, hang in there and soon the magical second trimester will arrive. Then with any luck you can enjoy your pregnancy to the fullest. I have never enjoyed living in my body more than when I was pregnant the first time around with the twins. :)
