Sick
I'm still puking on a regular basis - tomorrow I officially leave my first trimester and enter the second. I'm really not that hopeful that tomorrow morning I'll wake up and suddenly be puke free. But I'm dealing with it.
The week at my sister's didn't exactly go as planned. I got down there Monday and the baby (my sister's 2.5 yr old), who had had a cold and cough the week before, seemed to be getting worse not better. We took him to the dr the next day and she sent my sister - pretty immediately - to the ER. Poor baby had pneumonia and he and my sister ended up in the hospital for three nights. It was just awful - but he's home now and doing much better bossing everyone around and constantly poking my belly going baby baby baby!
Needless to say, it was a stressful week and I came home with a cold. It's not a particularly bad cold, but on top of the puking and nausea I'm pretty miserable to say the least. I worked this morning and came home and sat on the couch. I think a few hours went by - I don't even know.
I can't believe that Spin Out is less than two weeks away!!! I received the permit in the mail the other day - now all we have to do is pray that the gorgeous weather we've been having holds out (or goes and comes back!) and that I can get through that Saturday without puking. Wouldn't that be grand! We've gotten a lot of donations this week - THANK YOU! - and I'll try to get them tallied up for tomorrow. I have an OB appt first thing in the morning, but then I'm coming here straight away to tell that we're giving away not ONE but TWO SPINNING WHEELS!!!! I know - I can't believe it myself! The generosity of this community is astounding!
I'm glad to be home.

Hang in there and invest in the lotion infused tissues (unless the smell makes you feel sick). Glad your nephew is feeling better and they caught the pneumonia relatively quickly. That is scary shit at any age; I can't imagine a 2.5 year old with it.

You poor girl! Rest! Take care of you.

Call your OB/GYN if you are still puking - there are drugs that can help that won't hurt the baby. Especially, if you've got a cold. Your body has enough going on without totally depleting your reserves. My girlfriend went throught the same thing for four months and then she took the drugs and was a new person. (Person and a half??)

Hoping you feel better really soon. The thing that really whipped morning sickness for me (both times) was 50 mg of B6 first thing in the morning. Ginger is supposed to help as well, but honestly the smell and taste were way too strong for me to get near when I felt so green to start with.

I'm rooting for you to get past the sickness and your cold. I feel for you and I remember.

It must have been scary for you, your sister, and your nephew. I'm glad that at least he seems to be improving.
I'm sorry you are still feeling so miserable. I hope you feel better soon.

Hope you get better really fast. Maybe a stuffy nose could help counter the effect of certain food stuffs? Glad your nephew is on the road to recovery, poor baby. You got 2 wheels?! If I win (I'm not that lucky) I can finally have a great excuse for a new fiber hobby!

Sorry to hear about your stressful week. Calm down, stress isn't good for you at this time. Do some prenatal yoga, and relax! ...hope you get to feeling better soon, too!

Poor pukey you and poor pneumonia baby. Bean and I both had pneumonia this summer and it totally sucked and that was without having a hospital stay! Chest x-rays for everyone!
Bleh.
Hope everyone is well soon.

dang - you've had a rough 1st trimester - here's to an easy remainder of the pregnancy.
I'll just bet it's a boy giving you all those troubles (grin)
Glad your nephew is better - and hope you are soon too.

The sickness isn't going anywhere. Don't believe the lies. I was worshipping the porcelain god yesterday morning and I am almost 29 weeks gone!
Glad your nephew is pepping up...avoid having to explain HOW the little one got in your tum!

I'm so sorry you're having such a rough time of it. There is always that old wives' tale to keep in the back of your mind: The sicker you are during pregnancy, the healthier the baby.

I'm so so sorry that you're sick! My SIL has always said it's like having a bad flu for over 3 months. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be over soon.

Those prizes are awesome! I got some great medication to help me with the nausea, but it did make me very, very sleepy. Hope you feel better soon.

(Cara)
If you want to know what worked for me, feel free to email me.
When I was pregnant, after 8 or 9 overnights stays at the hospital from getting myself dehydrated I finally found what worked.
Let me know if I can help.

I had a bug over the weekend and a Brazilian friend suggested putting a pinch of sugar and salt in a glass of water. It really calmed my tummy.
Really excited for your SpinOut news. Such a great event. I donated in the beginning but I'm thinking a bit more now that the event is almost here is definitely called for:)

Hi there,
My SIL's both told me to lie down on my bed as much as possible when I got the chance, to rest, and I always fell asleep. I think it helped, and the baby (10 yrs now) was such a calm little thing. Be kind to yourself.

I hope you feel better, and soon!

When my daughter was 2.5 she was hospitalized with pneumonia. It was terrifying. Glad to hear your nephew is back home and doing better.
I hope you get to feeling better soon.

When I was pregnant I threw up for seven months. What finally stopped it was acid-reflux drugs. You might want to give them a try - they aren't supposed to affect the fetus in any way, and my kid sure turned out fine.
But whatever happens, I hope you feel better soon. That is ROTTEN.

Hey!
I don't know if you have already heard this yet or not, but if it makes you feel any better my dr. always told me that if you are especially sick (throwing up sick) that means it's a healthy pregnancy because your hormones are doing what they are supposed to do. And also, even if you are sick and even if you can't eat a lot the baby gets what he/ she needs even if you don't. Not that that is ideal, but rest assured the baby is fine. you may feel crappy but he/ she is just ducky.
