Like Smack

Since my milk came in two nights ago the little one has been enjoying that boob induced high. She can't get enough!
Finally, we are waiting for our discharge papers and then we are going HOME!
Georgie and Meli and I thank you all so much for your warm welcome for our little girl. It's all so overwhelming, but the outpouring of love has been almost more than I can bear. Thank you thank you thank you!

I didn't comment on the previous post because I didn't make it to the party until the room was already packed... but I'm so glad for you, Cara and Georgie, and for little Meli (she's definitely got a good set of parents!)
Cara, I've been following your journey for quite some time, and I'm so proud of you. Your daughter is beautiful, and I wish your new family so much joy! (And laugher and patience, don't forget those.)

Cara, this is going to sound really strange but I have to say it.... As I am sure you know there is nothing as wonderful in the entire universe as the smell of a newborn... you simply cannot put it into words, bottle it, or re-capture it. I can still remember that wonderful intoxicating scent. Take deep breaths of her because it goes away quickly. Hope you don't think I'm strange, but honestly its not something that you can re-capture and you'll be glad with all the fuss and hubbub that you concentrated for just an extra moment on creating that memory. :)
Enjoy!

Look at those cheeks fill out -- already!
She is so wonderful.
I am glad that her mother is going to be taking amazing pictures of Meli, and that we get to see a few. When Meli's mother is a little less sore and tired, of course.
Meli's mother -- that's you, Cara! Weird, huh? But true! No, the hospital did not make a mistake, and yes, they're sending her home with you and your husband -- here you go! PARENTS!
It'll be great. Trust yourselves. And her.

Congratulations, mom!! Oh gosh, I remember when my milk came in and I felt like a porno star. I went to the nurses on duty at the hospital and complained about the plastic surgeon who had given me a boob job in the night. The dry German nurses thought I was serious. :)
Just remember from here on out it just gets easier!
Hugs from Berlin!

It's all already been said... but I'll add my congratulations and best wishes for quantity's sake. She's beautiful... and definitely brought to my mind the memory of baby fragrance, and suckling sensations.

I had resigned myself that at age 50 I no longer wanted a newborn in my life (at least one that I birthed). But looking at the photos of the soft cheek and remembering the wonderful warm powdery smell makes me nostalgic. Nursing is an adventure but such a good one. I'm glad to hear that everything went well and you all are doing well. Happy times!
