She's beautiful!

Posted by: Betsy at April 24, 2008 12:05 PM

She brought a tear to my eye... just today I got to listen to my 17-week-old little one's heart for the second time, and I hope it's going to be as smiley a baby as Miss Meli.

Posted by: MzTallulah at April 24, 2008 12:10 PM

These photos made my day! I was in a cranky mood and now I'm not :) Thanks, Miss Meli!

Posted by: Danielle at April 24, 2008 12:11 PM

Beautiful! She just radiates this totally fun, quirky, loving little personality through those pics - thanks for sharing!

Posted by: Dani at April 24, 2008 12:14 PM

Oh my gosh Cara - the happiness is giggle inducing!! GAH! So cute. :)

Posted by: Laura at April 24, 2008 12:15 PM

Wow, she is absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for the update photos.

Posted by: Mary in Gainesville at April 24, 2008 12:17 PM

A smiling baby is the BEST thing in the world!

Posted by: lola at April 24, 2008 12:18 PM

she's gorgeous! what a charmer. :)

Posted by: Susan at April 24, 2008 12:19 PM

She's so sweet! Those smiles are a really good return on your pregnancy investment!

Posted by: Holly at April 24, 2008 12:20 PM

What a sweetie! Cara, you can do it all, maybe not simultaneously, but right now, Meli is your project. In 10 years, you'll look back and wonder where the time has gone. The knitting will always be there (just as the dust will be), but the baby Meli will suddenly become a lovely young lady.

Posted by: Jan at April 24, 2008 12:22 PM

Cara - Meli is gorgeous (the best advertising ever for your business).

I hear you on the mommy tantrums - my little one is a few weeks ahead of yours & my tantrums come mostly when he is melting down or having a growth spurt & not sleeping/nursing constantly and the sweet little old ladies come up & say "enjoy this time" - that makes me want to scream! I have to admit that I have been known to rig pillows up so I can knit a couple of rows on a plain sock while nursing - it keeps me sane.

Posted by: jen at April 24, 2008 12:29 PM

She is a cutiepie! And daughters are marshmallow creme! It is SO SO good to hear from you again! I check several times a day 'cause you make me smile. Miss your knitting!

Posted by: Celaine at April 24, 2008 12:32 PM

Thank you! Thank you!! She's so gorgeous and smiley.

Posted by: Vicki at April 24, 2008 12:35 PM

Is it Bruce?
Or maybe log cabin?
Oo! Oo! Jaywalkers!
She's really cute -- all those smiles.

Posted by: Cordelia at April 24, 2008 12:38 PM

You've got a ham on your hands! She is a doll, a living doll.

Posted by: margene at April 24, 2008 12:48 PM

You had me smiling as I scrolled through the photos but that last one made me laugh, Cara! What a little doll!

Posted by: Jan at April 24, 2008 12:50 PM

Awwww, she's pwetty. :)

Posted by: Katinka at April 24, 2008 01:09 PM

Too cute! Thank you for sharing those adorable pictures. :) The last one is my fave.

Posted by: KimK at April 24, 2008 01:27 PM

Oh I just love baby smiles!!! She is so amazingly sweet.

Posted by: Nessa at April 24, 2008 01:33 PM

She's so expressive! What a total cutie. I'll be sending peaceful/restful thoughts to you both (not a mom myself, but my guess is that if you're not resting much, neither is she, and you could probably both use it!)

Posted by: Zarah at April 24, 2008 01:34 PM

All Meli needs in that last photo is a big 'ol STOGIE! Super cute, what a character.

Posted by: Lisa at April 24, 2008 01:38 PM

Idn't she just the cutest lil thang!

Posted by: Another Betsy at April 24, 2008 01:42 PM

Posted by: Kay at April 24, 2008 02:30 PM

can't add much - she is just too cute!! Meli Mack - hmmm - why she may just be a rock star herself when she grows up - ya know Miley Cyrus's 'Miley' came from daddy calling her Smiley Miley when she was little!! I'm sure Meli is gonna' take up where Bruce leaves off when he retires!

Posted by: robin at April 24, 2008 02:39 PM

so precious!!!

Posted by: Heather at April 24, 2008 02:58 PM

This is going to be the world's most well-documented baby (and I mean that in a good way). Cute photos!

Posted by: colleen at April 24, 2008 03:31 PM

She's adorable!! What a wonderful thing to have a mommy whose a professional photographer - when she grows up she's gonna have the most amazing collection of memories.

Posted by: Jody at April 24, 2008 03:34 PM

I love that last picture most of all!

She is just so beautiful... those eyes, that smile. Awwwwww!

Posted by: Wanda in Ar at April 24, 2008 03:55 PM

Posted by: margaux at April 24, 2008 03:56 PM

I think her secret word is probably poopie pants... but that's just me :) (coming from the woman whose daughter seriously NEVER poops)

Posted by: Sarah at April 24, 2008 04:31 PM

The very first photo after the jump - Meli looks exactly like you!

Posted by: grumperina at April 24, 2008 05:07 PM

I don't feel like we're indulging you. I feel like you are indulging us - or at least me. Because I cannot get enough pictures of Miss Meli. Seriously, if you never wrote another word about knitting but just posted a picture of her every day, I would be totally satisfied. She is completely fabulous.

I'm so happy to read that you are loving mommyhood so much and that things are going so well. Best to all three of you.

Posted by: earthchick at April 24, 2008 05:07 PM

So precious. You must be on cloud nine to have her smile at you like that. She looks really happy and content. Good job mom!

I just spent 3 weeks in Washington DC taking care of a 7 week old grandson. I miss him terrible. Thank you for sharing Miss Melie sweet smile with us all.

Posted by: Janice at April 24, 2008 06:30 PM

hehehe, I love her chubby little neck. She's a beautiful baby. If only she'd let you loop 2x around the walk! ;o)

Posted by: mia at April 24, 2008 07:00 PM

I think it's the other way around - thank you for indulging us! Those pictures are just wonderful. What a beautiful little girl!!

Oh my she is just adorable!!!

Posted by: Nikki at April 24, 2008 08:34 PM

No - thank-you for indulging us! I loved the second from the top, but that last one just made me laugh out loud. She is simply beautiful (and all she needs is a cigar and she can imitate George Burns)!

Posted by: Gaile at April 24, 2008 08:47 PM

She's beautiful! There's nothing in the world sweeter than a happy baby!

Posted by: Cindy Ericsson at April 24, 2008 09:18 PM

Re your previous post: I have learned to cope with these things by thinking about my life as a series of seasons. Right now, I would love to join my church choir, and learn how to dye, and other stuff, but it's just not that season. It will be someday. And though I will enjoy that season, I know I will also miss my current season of boy demands and hectic schedules and rough and tumble. Enjoy your baby smile season! What a lovely one. Lucky you, to have the talent to capture it so well.

Posted by: Kris at April 24, 2008 09:56 PM

She is soooo cute! Keep posting pics of her; we love them.

Posted by: ruth at April 24, 2008 10:47 PM

She's a beauty.
We're all celebrating with you.

Posted by: Teyani at April 24, 2008 11:44 PM

Beautiful baby, beautiful photos!

Posted by: theLady at April 25, 2008 01:41 AM

I think I love her :) I can't stop looking at the little bracelets in the fat around her wrists, and her soft-looking little face. Enjoy this wonderful time! She is beautiful.

Posted by: jane at April 25, 2008 02:43 AM

With a smile like that, she is going to be a heart breaker when she gets older.

Posted by: Elaine at April 25, 2008 08:26 AM

I love the one where she looks like she knows something and maybe, just maybe she'll let you in on it (second after the jump). I think every mom has those feelings you do about your walk. I figure as long as we can really let our kids know how much we love them, they'll forgive us for not being perfect.

Posted by: lisa at April 25, 2008 09:21 AM

She is SO.DARN.CUTE. I am overtaken with the urge to kiss a smiling baby and then nibble toes. Must go find local baby now.

If I can't find one...I'm not above hopping a train in New Haven and heading your way! I'll just wander the streets until I see that smiling tiny face. Because I'm not a stalker and all I know is you live in NYC.

Posted by: JoAnne at April 25, 2008 09:25 AM

She is SPECTACULAR. OMG, what a beautiful baby!!!!!

Posted by: regina at April 25, 2008 10:00 AM

I can see her daddy in her.

And your joy is contagious.

Posted by: Susan at April 25, 2008 10:10 AM

Beyond cute! Almost makes me want another one. Almost.

Posted by: Sandra at April 25, 2008 10:29 AM

LOL! I'm glad you made your "secret word" comment, because I immediately thought "oh gosh, she looks like a tiny Groucho!" Love that coy look in the fourth photo. What a sweetie!

Posted by: Jennifer at April 25, 2008 10:53 AM

Good God, she is amazing! You two do very nice work. Thanks so much for the pictures.
