Proof That I Do Put Her Down

After Our Walk

Sleeping With Daddy

Things have been going well. We made our first trip down to Philly for our favorite 3 yr old's birthday party. We had an ultrasound done of Meli's hips - a standard practice for breech babies - and everything's perfectly normal. We've nursed for what seems like HOURS on end. I've got about half our birth story written up. I knit about two rows. Today I chose to do laundry for the little bit she'd sleep on her own. Oh and we played Patty Cake and I got a little smile.

We miss you, but we're having so much fun!

We miss you too but it is so worth the wait to see Miss Meli and hear about your adventures. Thanks for sharing. My baby turned 12 today it goes by way to fast.

I miss you but I remember those days (even though the most recent set of them will be 21 years ago next month). Enjoy your time with Miss Meli, it sounds like you are.

she is sweetness personified...

Posted by: flair at April 9, 2008 06:32 PM

It goes too fast. My baby is 11. Enjoy the days while you have them, at each age.

Awww. We miss you too, but we're loving your greatest FO of all! Have fun mom!

Posted by: Carol at April 9, 2008 07:17 PM

Miss you too. Check every day for updates. Glad everything is going so well. Warm wishes for the three of you.

It is fun, isn't it? As my oldest daughter turns 25 this year, I still remember the two o'clock feedings when we were the only ones awake. The peacefulness of those moments lives on in my memory as such a wonderful time.

Hope this will be the first of MANY trips! I wagged my two all over creation. When they were 2 and 5, we did a summer road trip in Mexico and Central America. I turned the car around when I got to a border manned with machine guns! (It does get easier.)

Posted by: Chloe at April 9, 2008 07:41 PM

Awwwww... she is absolutely precious, beautiful, stunning, a definite keeper :D Keep up the good work.

Posted by: Sarah O G at April 9, 2008 07:46 PM

I can't speak for everyone, but I'm still here... and y'all enjoy the time you've got together :)

Posted by: Nikki at April 9, 2008 08:01 PM

We miss you, too...but hanging out with your kid is a pretty cool thing to do!

Posted by: margene at April 9, 2008 08:18 PM

Don't worry - we'll still be here when you have the desire for a little non-baby time. My babies are 25 and 23! They grow up so fast - enjoy.

Posted by: Sue H at April 9, 2008 08:28 PM

I'm sure we miss you more than you miss US! And I do miss your almost daily input of fun, knitting and positive living! Watch out I'm going to start preaching!!! Enjoy these precious days but pictures....more pictures....please!

Posted by: Celaine at April 9, 2008 08:31 PM

I miss you too, mostly your sense of humor. Gotta love those growth spurts, huh? But, I'll still tune in at the very least for cute baby pics. Oh, and knitting. When you get to it. I'm patient.

Posted by: Kathy in KS at April 9, 2008 08:43 PM

miss you too!! but you are having so much fun so that's totally fine!! YEA!

Posted by: margaux at April 9, 2008 08:46 PM

I think I held my son for six months straight. Just the way it goes sometimes. He still lets me hold him, sometimes (but I don't know how much longer that will last). Enjoy!

Posted by: Cath at April 9, 2008 09:05 PM

Meli is so very beautiful and perfect. Ever so happy for you.

Posted by: Angeluna at April 9, 2008 09:33 PM

She is just so beautiful. And your pictures are amazing - I love how you capture those moments!

Posted by: Kris at April 9, 2008 09:40 PM

We miss you, but totally understand! We're still working on the nursing, but I've been pumping for hours (ugh). And you've definitely got to choose your activities for those precious nap times (not on you) - we chose taxes! Yay! Hugs!!!

Posted by: Sarah at April 9, 2008 10:14 PM

Oh, what a beautiful little thing she is. I want to SMOOOOOOCH those chubby cheeks!!

Posted by: Vicki at April 9, 2008 11:38 PM

so beautiful.
and it sounds like your priorities are exactly right.
babies first :-)
all the rest of us will gladly wait.. just feed us a photo now and then (big grin)

Posted by: Teyani at April 10, 2008 12:33 AM

Miss ya lots, but you take as much time as you like with such a sweet little bub to look after. There is nothing so beautiful as a sleeping babe ... until they get old enough to laugh and giggle back at you!

Posted by: Alison at April 10, 2008 04:16 AM

My baby will be five months old tomorrow! My oldest is just over three. (I'm crazy, but I also have another one between the two!) They truly do grow up WAY TOO FAST! Enjoy the baby snuggles while you still can! My oldest two don't stay still long enough to snuggle anymore! :-( At least my baby still loves to be held! :-)

Posted by: Teish at April 10, 2008 07:35 AM

How great that you can take such wonderful pictures of your little girl! Again, congrats! Looks like you're all doing well!

Posted by: Mandy at April 10, 2008 08:30 AM

We miss you too, but enjoy yourself (and get sleep)!

The second photo is just superb in the sacked-out-ed-ness. :)

Posted by: Thalia at April 10, 2008 09:13 AM

I can't tell you how happy I am that things are going so well. Your pictures are just wonderful.

Posted by: regina at April 10, 2008 09:27 AM

Even after 4 children and 9 grandchildren, I still can't believe how small they are...

Posted by: Judith Foldi at April 10, 2008 09:53 AM

Miss you too!! No need to write for a while...just post pictures!!!

Posted by: Cynthia at April 10, 2008 10:08 AM

We miss you too, but we're glad you're having such a good time! She is absolutly precious; keep the pics coming!!

Posted by: mobishobel at April 10, 2008 10:27 AM

Oh oh OH! That little chin, those little closed eyes. I miss that age so much. My oldest just turned 11, and I can remember thinking at your stage, this will last forever! And, people would say, "It goes so fast!" Sadly, it does. Enjoy this time.... it's so much fun, tiring, but fun.

Posted by: Mary-Kay at April 10, 2008 10:38 AM

Two rows? That's pretty impressive. (I don't remember getting much of anything done for the first six months or so with each kid.)

Posted by: Lucia at April 10, 2008 11:18 AM

yeah - we miss you - but we UNDERSTAND - what are you gonna' do with all that sweetness around?? BTW - do you sew? I have a granddaughter due any day now and I can't wait to start makin' her stuff. The little girl stuff is so cute and let's face it, it's faster than knitting, more versatile-weatherwise, and not so hard to 'release' when it's outgrown!

Posted by: robin at April 10, 2008 11:51 AM

The absence is way beyond understandable... my goodness, she's got her dad's ears!

Posted by: Jill B. at April 10, 2008 12:06 PM

We miss you too! Meli is so adorable. Enjoy the baby time. Are you getting much sleep yet? My guy is now almost three months. The time really does fly by. Probably a direct correlation to the not sleeping. :-)

Posted by: Jenna at April 10, 2008 01:18 PM

She's pefect! Good job on make her!

Posted by: Alyssa at April 10, 2008 01:19 PM

Are you feeling bad that you hold her a lot, or that you put her down? You're supposed to hold a newborn; the more the better--for them and you :) I say, keep her in the sling all the time now, because before very long, you won't even be able to get a cuddle ;)

Posted by: TracyKM at April 10, 2008 01:22 PM

Don't feel like you need to put her down. When my kids were babies everyone who was "old school" (mothers, aunts, etc.) told me I was holding them too much, that they would "get spoiled". I didn't listen and did what felt right. I held my babies and I wore my babies in a sling. They were a part of me and I was a part of them. I now have two absolutely lovely teenage daughters who (most of the time) are absolutely delightful and clearly have benefited from the love and attention they received. You sound so blissful and grounded. This is a great time in you and your husband's lives. Enjoy it! Hold her as much as you can. Quick as a wink, your beautiful daughter will grow up and become the teenagers that I can't believe mine are!!

Posted by: Carolyn at April 10, 2008 03:54 PM

I miss you but know that you are exactly where you're supposed to be doing exactly what you're supposed to be doing. I am really happy for you!

Posted by: SallyA at April 10, 2008 05:40 PM

Keep having fun and doing what you're doing! Soak up every second. I don't know how you can take your eyes off of her, she's so beautiful. I can still sit and stare at Cam, of course he's only still enough to do so when he's asleep!

Posted by: sarah b. at April 10, 2008 10:10 PM

What sweet pics!

Posted by: tiennie at April 16, 2008 12:05 AM

Aww what a cutie pie. Love the blanket too. Did you make it from leftover yarn from the beautiful log cabin blanket?
