Sparks Fly on E Street

It's a sad, sad day here at January One. Things will never be the same. And the fact that Danny Federici died of Melanoma, a dreaded disease we have first hand knowledge of, makes it all the worse.

Yesterday our family spent the day at the Jersey Shore, literally miles from where The E Street Band got it's start. It was going to be a happy happy post, but now it will be something of a tribute to the band that has given us so much.

Thanks Danny! R.I.P.

I'm absolutely heartbroken about Danny Federici. I'm also thrilled for you and your beautiful family. Great stuff, Cara.

What a perfect day at the beach....and looks like you guys had it all to yourselves!

Cara: I knew that you would have something about Danny's passing up today. So ironic that you were at the shore yesterday - a fitting way to remember a great musician. The video on brucespringsteen.net with Danny playing the accordian is priceless and poignant.

Thanks for the lovely pictures of a truly lovely and happy family and for your mention of Danny. Best of everything to a wonderfully beautiful Meli.

I have to delurk to say that when I heard this sad news this morning my first thought was oh my goodness, I hope Cara's ok.

You guys are one beautiful family! Congrats on a beautiful baby girl - - - {almost} makes me want another one....... :) kc

The music world has suffered a sad loss, thanks for mentioning it.

Can I say, you seem to have slipped into mothering with and ease and grace that shows how much this baby was meant to be with you. You are a natural.

(Okay, tell me the truth, all the crap you are keeping off the blog, spill.) :)

Love that third photo -- Meli looking STRAIGHT at you, G so protective.
I am very sorry for your loss. Damn cancer.

Thought of you this morning when I heard the news. Very sad. But what lovely pics of your little family.

Sad news indeed. All the more reason to give thanks for the time you've been given with G.

The photos from the beach are super! I can't wait to take my little man to the beach this summer. Awesome! Keep on enjoying your family! :)

oh we have those jammies she's wearing, I can't remember if its the purple or pink ones that have sheep on them. Carters has an entire line of green and yellow outfits with sheep on them still in their stores.. love it. It's not with the normal play cloths, its in a special section hanging on the wall, they have dresses, onsies and stuff and even a cute dolly to match. I AM A NERD YES INDEED.

The picture of Meli trying to get milk from Daddy's nose is precious.

I'm 5+ years melanoma free (fingers-crossed) - such a sad passing for someone so talented. Lovely, lovely pictures. I love the beach but never went until I was older - such a great start for Mellie!

You were the first thing I thought of when I heard the news. Very sad.

But your day at the beach looks happy and fun. I love your pictures. Keep up the good mommying!

Love, love, love the photo of Georgie and Meli, with Meli looking straight at the camera (and you)! Thanks so much for sharing these....

She's growing so fast! You three make a beautiful family!

I too went to the beach this weekend. You have a lovely family and I enjoy your blog!

Congratulations on your beautiful daughter! I was enjoying reading the tale of her birth and your first few days at home. However, when I got to your April 2 blog and saw your use of the word, F***, I was very disappointed. I am no prude, but I must tell you that I feel that its use did nothing to add to your narrative...and your daughter may want to read these accounts one day...

congratulations on your beautiful daughter! :) as I scrolled down to your post about the first night I couldn't help but think "you *did* notice that she comes with a warning/advertencia label, right?" ;)

Oh that sweetness! I miss it so!
She's so very lovely...

Those are the most precious pictures! I can't get the big grin off of my face from looking at them all. You have such a talent Cara.
